Does an NFT guarantee that a product is authentic?
“Not by itself. Authenticity depends on the brand issuing the record, a physical identifier that is hard to clone and controls against substitution. The token preserves that evidence and its history, but it cannot detect a fake item that received a legitimate identifier.”

“Not necessarily. The digital product passport is a requirement of Regulation (EU) 2024/1781, with data, access and interoperability set for each category, and it does not require a token. A brand certificate can use the same technology and meet those requirements if it is designed for them from the start.”

“No. In this model the token proves authenticity, history or warranty, and it promises no appreciation or income. Only when the legal structure creates an economic right over an item in custody does it become an investment product, with its own regulation.”
