Who decides whether I need a fire watch?
“The authority having jurisdiction: your fire marshal. The Florida Fire Prevention Code requires a watch when a required alarm or sprinkler system is out of service beyond the hours the code allows, and the marshal sets the terms. We staff to what the marshal writes, and our log is built for what the marshal asks to see.”

“No. A fire watch officer walks a fixed round looking for fire conditions and logs each one; a security officer controls access and deters theft. One officer can do both on a small property, but it is written and billed as two duties. If you need both, say so and we will size it honestly.”

“Impairments are urgent by nature, so fire watch is staffed by phone against the live roster rather than through a form. Call dispatch.”

“The full log, first round to release, as one package. Insurers and inspectors both ask for it, and you will have it before you need it.”
