Do I need to have trained before?
“Not at all. Most of my clients start as complete beginners. I build your program from scratch around your current fitness level and progress you at a pace that's right for you.”
“Defined Bodies is a women's weight loss personal training service led by Samantha Hobley, training clients in person at Doherty's Gym Perth and online Australia-wide.”
“Not at all. Most of my clients start as complete beginners. I build your program from scratch around your current fitness level and progress you at a pace that's right for you.”
“No. This is one of the biggest myths in women's fitness. Women don't produce enough testosterone to build bulky muscle. What strength training actually does is help you lose fat, build lean definition, and boost your metabolism so you burn more calories at rest. Every one of my clients who was nervous about weights wishes they'd started sooner.”
“Both have a place, but if I had to choose one it would be strength training every time. Cardio burns calories while you're doing it, but strength training builds lean muscle that increases your metabolism long term. Most of my clients do a combination. The balance depends on your goals and where you're starting from.”
“The coaching is the same: same program, nutrition, weekly call, messages and method. Hybrid just adds two in-person sessions a month at Doherty’s Gym.”
“It depends on whether you’ll use the gym time. You pay more than Online for the two sessions a month with me. If you’re in Perth and you’ll actually turn up to them, that’s where the value is. If they’re going to slide, Online is the smarter buy. We work that out before you commit.”
“Tell me and we’ll move it. There’s usually room that month. If not, one session rolls into the next. One roll, not a running tab.”
“No. Same program, nutrition, weekly call and access to me. The only difference is how often we’re in the same room.”
“Each visit, we review the last month and build the next block. Between visits the app holds the plan, and anything urgent goes through messages.”
“Just let me know. The first option is always rescheduling within the same week. I’m flexible on day and time. If that’s genuinely not possible, you can roll one session forward, up to two weeks. It’s a real safety valve for when life happens, not a way to bank sessions indefinitely.”
“Yes. You choose weekly, fortnightly, or monthly billing. The amount is fixed either way. No usage tracking, no expiring credits, no surprise charges.”
“We have an in-depth conversation about where you’re at, what you’ve tried, and what you actually want. Then we do a movement and strength assessment so I can see how your body is moving and where the gaps are.”
“Most of the women I work with have something, a dodgy back, a knee, a hypermobile joint, pelvic floor stuff after kids, an old injury that never quite went away. You don’t have to get your body “fixed” before you start.”
“You send me video. We have a system for it: clear instructions on which angles to film from, where to set the phone, what to capture. I review the footage and respond with specific corrections. It’s not the same as me standing next to you, but it’s also not blind coaching. The form check is genuinely thorough, just delivered differently.”
“Depends what you’re paying for. If “online coaching” means a PDF and a templated plan you never open again, no, that’s not worth anyone’s money.”
“Yes. Weight loss comes from the training, the nutrition, and actually sticking to both, and all three are what you get, wherever you’re based.”
“Yes. Perth-based Online clients can book occasional one-off in-person sessions on top of the program. If you find yourself wanting them regularly, the Hybrid Program is probably the better structure and we can have that conversation.”
