Read the coverage. Then the score. Then the answer.

Use questions, answers and citations to explain the result and identify an information problem worth addressing.

How should you read an AI visibility report?

Check completed and scored coverage first, then whether the selected questions fit your business. Treat the headline as a summary: open an answer, inspect its recommendation conditions and follow its citations. Choose a correction supported by that evidence. The report cannot tell you how every AI regards the business or reveal a provider's hidden reasons for selecting an answer.

Start with the summary, then follow the evidence.

Inspect citations, sources, competitors, exclusions, and limitations.

Turn the result into an evidence-based decision.

  1. Start with coverage

Check how many answers were planned, returned and conclusively scored. Those are different counts. A failed or inconclusive answer is missing evidence, not a zero for the brand. Do not compare two headline scores without checking whether their evidence coverage is comparable.

  2. Read the selected buyer questions

The report covers the one to four questions selected for that scan. Check the exact need and its constraints before interpreting an absence or recommendation. A question about an unsupported feature is not proof that the business is generally invisible.

  3. Use the headline as an entry point

The Market Position Score summarizes recommendation leadership, system breadth, first-choice question coverage and an underlying visibility score. The letter grade is a display band, not a certification or probability. Use the methodology for the formula; use the question rows to understand this particular result.

  4. Open an answer, not just its label

Read the complete wording and the recorded AI system, model, surface and time. A brand named in a list is not automatically recommended. Preserve conditions such as team size, plan or integration when deciding whether the answer genuinely suggests the product.

  5. Check what the citation supports

Follow the specific page, not just the domain name. Confirm that the cited passage supports the nearby claim for the correct product and date. A citation can support a fact without endorsing the business. The source list does not disclose a hidden influence weight.

  6. Interpret competitors in the question's context

An alternative may be a direct competitor, a workaround or a different category. Look at the need it addresses and whether the same direct competitor recurs across questions. A long list of names is not automatically a strong competitive challenge.

  7. Turn one finding into a concrete decision

Illustrative example: an answer recommends an enterprise product, but the selected question is about a three-person team's simple workflow. Check the answer's actual fit and source conditions before deciding to copy that competitor's content. The useful decision may be to clarify who your own product serves, not imitate a larger feature list.

  8. Keep the original evidence when comparing later

Retain the question wording, market, language, system configuration and observation date. Distinguish an information correction from a later change in AI behaviour. Edited questions, different systems or missing answers can change the score without demonstrating that a website edit caused an improvement.
