What should you do first after an AI visibility report?
Choose an evidenced problem you can address: an incorrect fact, an unexplained capability, an inaccessible source or an ambiguous fit condition. Read the complete answer and check its source, then correct the relevant page. Do not treat failed answers as brand absence or rewrite accurate, useful content merely because a score is low.
Choose the problem you can actually see
Start with one complete answer and the question that produced it. Check that the question describes a need your business serves. Then separate an incorrect product fact, missing information, inaccessible evidence, an unfavourable but accurate comparison and a failed observation. These require different actions.
Do not turn a low score into a diagnosis of your entire website. The report records an observed answer sample; it does not expose the provider's private ranking weights or prove why another business appeared.
Match the action to the evidence
Use the smallest change that resolves the observed information problem. The examples below are a decision aid, not promises that an AI system will change its answer.
From a report finding to a useful correction
Scroll to read all columns.
| What you observed | First useful action | What not to do |
|---|---|---|
| The answer repeats an outdated fact from your page. | Correct the fact, its conditions and any contradictory copy on the same site. | Create another page carrying a different version of the fact. |
| The product fits, but an important capability is not explained. | Add a concrete workflow, supported inputs and outputs, limits and relevant evidence. | Insert the capability unless the product actually supports it. |
| A cited external page misstates your offering. | Send its owner a specific factual correction with the current supporting source. | Demand deletion of an accurate criticism or invent customer reviews. |
| Your source is accurate but the answer misreads it. | Check whether the wording is ambiguous; preserve correct information and the observed discrepancy. | Rewrite a true statement to match the AI's mistake. |
| The question asks for something your business does not offer. | Make fit and exclusions clearer, and retain the valid negative observation. | Change the question simply to manufacture a higher score. |
| An answer failed or was inconclusive. | Resolve the missing observation before drawing a marketing conclusion. | Treat missing evidence as proof that the brand was rejected. |
A useful page edit, rather than a slogan
Illustrative example: a document-conversion product is described only as “turn documents into presentations”. Buyers need to know whether the output contains editable slide objects or flattened pictures. If the product supports editable output, explain which elements remain editable, which input formats are accepted, what formatting may change and how to inspect a sample. If it does not, say so.
The useful edit is verifiable product detail in the existing product page, not a new claim that the tool is “AI-optimised”. Preserve a truthful before-and-after description of the information changed. This example is not a recorded customer scan or an observed recommendation uplift.
Fix the canonical information before adding more pages
Put each correction where a customer would reasonably look for that answer: product behaviour in the relevant feature or documentation page, terms on the policy page, and current pricing on the pricing page. Reconcile contradictory copies you control and link supporting detail in context.
A new article is warranted when it answers a different substantive question. Do not create many near-identical pages around wording variants of the same need. Keep useful existing material, examples and source links rather than replacing a whole page because one sentence is wrong.
Decide whether the change actually helped
First verify the change itself: can a reader find the corrected fact, understand its conditions and inspect its evidence? That is an immediate information-quality result. A later crawl, search appearance, citation or recommendation is a separate observation.
When comparing later reports, keep the question, market, language and measured AI surface comparable. Note changes in completed and scored coverage. A better score after an edit is not, by itself, proof that the edit caused it; a changed question or missing answers can also change the result.
Leave good content alone
Keep a page when it already answers a distinct customer question accurately, supplies the relevant conditions and evidence, and provides a useful next step. Repair the specific weak part instead of rewriting for novelty. A short precise answer can be more useful than a long page of repeated qualifications.
Ready Scan supplies retained answers and evidence for this decision. It does not automatically edit your website, submit corrections to other publishers or establish the hidden cause of a recommendation.
Start with the actual answer.
Read the buyer question, complete response and sources before choosing the next useful information change.
